The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), which is in charge of providing electricity to these areas, has jurisdiction over these impacted areas.

In particular, the AEDC informed its customers on Tuesday about the reason behind the power outage in areas like Ruga Juli in Abuja, Abacha Road Mararaba, and Zamani Estate.

The main cause of the outage, according to the utility company, was a technical issue that occurred on the 33kv feeder k6, which originated from the AT9 Karu Transmission Station.

Residents in these areas are facing inconvenience and disruption to their daily activities as a result of the technical glitch resulting in an absence of electricity supply.

The blackout affects not just individual homes but also companies and vital services that depend on continuous power supply.

Customers who have been impacted by the power outage can learn the main reason for the outage from the AEDC’s prompt communication, which also offers transparency into the situation and suggestions for possible solutions.

The affected areas’ electricity supply is being restored as efforts are made to resolve the technical problem. However, residents are advised to be patient and make the necessary preparations to lessen the inconvenience caused by the power outage until the fault is fixed. The circumstance emphasizes how crucial it is to keep up dependable infrastructure and put in place quick reaction systems to deal with technical issues in the power distribution network to guarantee consistent and uninterrupted electricity access for both homes and businesses.

The 33kv feeder k6 from the AT9 Karu Transmission Station, which is overseen by the Transmission Company of Nigeria, is currently experiencing a technical issue. This is the notice that the management of Abuja Electricity Distribution Plc is sending to its valued customers.

The Disco released a statement saying, “The areas affected in Abuja are: Ruga Juli, Abacha Road Mararaba, Glory Estate, and environs.”

The AEDC apologized for any inconvenience and revealed that the TCN maintenance team was working to ensure that the electricity supply to these areas was restored as soon as possible.

The TCN had previously declared that scheduled maintenance would be performed on the TR3 45MVA and TR2 60MVA power transformers in its 132/33kV Okene Transmission Substation by its maintenance team.

The maintenance was planned to take place every day from Tuesday through Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

As a result, during the maintenance window, Abuja DisCo will not be able to supply electricity to its clients in Okene, Kabba, Ososo, and Ikare from the substation.

The TCN spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, stated, “Kindly note that bulk power supply will be restored to Abuja DisCo immediately after maintenance work is completed.”

A 100MVA 132/33kV power transformer that the TCN had installed at its Port Harcourt Main Transmission Substation has increased the substation’s bulk transmission capacity by 80 MW, according to Mbah.

She said that the World Bank was working with them on this project, which also includes adding three feeders and related accessories in addition to fully renovating and enlarging the 132/33kV transmission substation.

The installed capacity of the substation increased from 180MVA to 280MVA with the installation of the 100MVA power transformer. Notably, communities outside of Port Harcourt city and industries in the Trans Amadi industrial environment will gain a great deal from this capacity expansion, she continued.

Recall that the AEDC’s management was recently called by Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu due to the deteriorating quality of the power supply in the organization.

Due to the worsening power situation throughout the nation since January of this year, Adelabu also called Sule Abdulazeez, the Managing Director of the Transmission Company of Nigeria.

However, the Discos and the TCN have consistently attributed the low power supply to various factors such as energy theft, vandalism, and shortage of gas.
