The Kaduna Govt, Google, and Partners Reveals First Hausa-Language AI Learning Series

Today, a brand-new project that wants to help women in Northern Nigeria learn about artificial intelligence (AI) kicked off.

Google, working together with the Kaduna State Government and Data Science Nigeria, introduced the AI for Beginners Learning Video Series. This cool series teaches AI stuff in the Hausa language, breaking down language barriers and making tricky technology easier to understand and more connected to the local culture.
The Kaduna State governor, Sen. Uba Sani, expressed his profound gratitude to the partners for building support for women to use technology in utilizing the socio-economic development of the state and the country as a whole.
Being present as the Guest of Honor at the launch of Arewa Ladies for Tech and the mural unveiling of the AI for Beginners Learning Video series, held at the prestigious Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Hall in Kaduna, Gov Sani, delivered an important address that focused on the government’s commitment to digital transformation and economic growth.
Governor Uba Sani said, “AI is not just the future; it’s the present,” “By equipping our people, especially our women, with AI skills, we’re paving the way for a more prosperous and innovative Northern Nigeria and laying the foundation for Kaduna to become a thriving tech hub.”
Emphasis was also laid on the importance of technology in driving change by the Director of Google West Africa, who spoke at the launch event and also announced the availability of the AI for Beginners Learning Video Series on YouTube via the Data Science Nigeria platform, the NITDA education portal, and for download.
Highlights about the transformative potential of AI education for women in Northern Nigeria were made by Dr. Bayo Adekanbi, CEO/Founder of Data Science Nigeria where he stated, “By making AI education accessible in Hausa, we’re opening doors for innovation, entrepreneurship, and social impact. These women are the future leaders and innovators of Northern Nigeria, and AI is the tool that can amplify their potential.”
Speeches from representatives of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, were featured on the event emphasizing the national significance of the initiative and the government’s support for fostering a vibrant tech ecosystem.
The AI for Beginners Learning Video Series has been made available for access on various platforms, which includes YouTube, the NITDA education portal, and also through direct distribution in primary and secondary schools across Kaduna State.
