After five years of marriage, she chose to file for divorce from her estranged husband Abdullateef, citing his poor nutrition and lack of care.

Adeoye, a single mother, testified in court that Abdullateef (Husband) asked her to move in with his parents after she became pregnant.

“It was uncomfortable for me to live with my in-laws,” she testified in court. He has never purchased infant formula and also provided me with a weekly allowance of N1,000 for food.

“As if that wasn’t enough, I have been receiving a lot of hostile behavior from Abdullateef’s relatives.” and he had beaten her up on severally occasions.

Adeoye uttered, “My Lord, there is no love between us; please separate us.”

Her husband responds rudely stated “My spouse is impolite and abusive. Since there’s always food in the house, I give her N1,000.

Abdullateef said, “I will only permit her to assume custody of the child provided that she will not place the child in her mother’s care.”

The court’s president, Mrs. S. M. Akintayo, finally stated that because Adeoye and Abdullateef had not paid the bride price or other requirements necessary for a legally recognized customary marriage, their marriage could be dissolved.

But for the child’s maintenance, she mandated that Abdullateef should always give N5,000 per month as a feeding allowance.
