During the Easter holiday, drivers and other road users are urged by the Federal Road Safety Corps to follow established traffic safety protocols.

If taken seriously, according to FRSC Corps Marshal Dauda Biu, this would prevent loss of lives and property.

This was said by Biu on Saturday in a letter sent by Corps Public Education Officer Jonas Agwu wishing Christians a happy Easter celebration this year.

The statement read, “As Christian faithful across the globe celebrate Easter, a day set aside to mark the resurrection of Jesus Christ from death, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Dauda Biu, has congratulated all Christians across the country.

“Biu urged the motoring public to imbibe the teachings and lessons of love and compassion that surround the Holy Week and the purpose of the resurrection of Christ.

“The wanton destruction of lives and properties on the nation’s highways resulting from people’s impatience would been avoided if people properly imbibed the exemplary life of Jesus Christ.”

In the spirit of celebration, the head of the FRSC pleaded with the public to follow the safety regulations.

“Faithful as well as members of the general public should not jettison the rules in the course of the celebration but continue to observe them to build on the gains so far made by the corps’ in its mission to make the highways safer for all to use,” he said.

He also urged Christians to “use the period of the celebration to offer special prayers for our country while restating the commitment of the Corps towards sustaining its present successes in road crash reduction.”

He revealed that commanding officers nationwide have been instructed to remain vigilant throughout the festivities, to offer the public all the assistance they require, and to pay special attention to any emergencies that may occur.

To support the agency’s continuous campaigns for a safer driving environment, he urged the public to cooperate by quickly reporting any road or other emergencies they come across to the FRSC.
