Governor Inuwa Spoken concerning Removal of fuel subsidy

Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has bemoaned the difficult but essential decision to remove the fuel subsidy last year.

In an attempt to lessen their suffering, his administration launched a palliative food distribution program in August 2023 with a target of 420,000 recipients. This January, they carried out this admirable endeavor by initiating the program’s second phase, which reached an additional 90,000 recipients.

The governor made these remarks during the Distribution Ramadan Palliative flag-off on Tuesday at Pantami Stadium in Gombe. He said that the exercise showed his dedication to supporting the people in trying times, which is a lasting quality of his administration that extends from the days of the COVID-19 pandemic to the recent removal of fuel subsidies.

In addition to the aforementioned initiatives, we also put in place several policies and programs to support our people through these trying times. To lessen the financial burden on the populace, these measures include paying billions of naira in backlog gratuities and offering 10,000 wage grants to civil servants since August 2023.

As the holy month of Ramadan approaches—a period marked by introspection, kindness, and giving—we are prepared to offer our assistance once more. We are starting a new round of palliative food distribution today, with a renewed emphasis on providing assistance to 214,500 individuals. In keeping with the teachings of our religions, this gesture aims to ensure that our people can observe their fast with dignity and gratitude, rather than just providing food.

He asserts that despite the difficulties the populace faces, his administration is devoted to ensuring the welfare and well-being of each and every Gombe resident.

He thanked the palliative committee for their excellent preparations thus far and encouraged everyone to approach their responsibilities with compassion and fear of God, making sure that food is distributed to those who most deserve it.

We will take steps to guarantee that the program is adequately monitored in accordance with our administration’s policy of tolerating neither corruption nor inefficiency.
