Career

Born on January 12, 1954, in the city of Lagos, the Island of Lagos, to the Kosoko royal dynasty.

Prince Jide Kosoko attended Yaba College of Technology to study business administration. He made his acting debut as a young performer in the television series Makanjuola. He has acted so many Yoruba and English-language Nollywood films.

Growing up in Ebute Metta, the young Jide Kosoko was motivated to pursue acting by Hubert Ogunde’s enormous success. He was contacted by an acquaintance who was involved in the Ifelodun touring theater group and asked to try out for a part in the telemovie Makanjuola. After accepting the invitation, Jide Kosoko attended the audition and was selected to portray the character of Alabi.

Kosoko continued with acting, he then performed with the Awada Kerikeri group consisting of Sunday Omobolanle, Lanre Hassan, and Oga Bello, ⁣and had guest appearances on the T.V. show, New Masquerade. He started his own theater company in 1972.

In addition to producing his theater plays and films, Jide Kosoko is the author of Ogun Ahoyaya. Kosoko became visible during the Video film era, producing his film, Asiri n la in 1992, starring in Asewo to re Mecca and Tunde Kelani’s Ti Oluwa Ni’Le part 2.

Prince Jide Kosoko represents the well-known juice manufacturer Chivita. He supported Emerald Estate’s proprietors, MeritAbode Limited, in 2016. Kosoko is also one of the Nigerian company ambassadors for Western Lotto.

In 2021, the Abuja International Film Festival nominated Jide Kosoko as the Outstanding Male Actor in Love Castle; this made him one of the most famous Nigerian actors.
