Nigerian media personality Morayo Afolabi-Brown said that Bobrisky’s win of the Best Dressed Female title at a function in Lagos last weekend should not be subject to criticism from her fellow countrymen.

Because Bobrisky dressed like a woman, Morayo claimed, he hadn’t broken any laws. She maintained that although same-sex partnerships are discouraged by Nigerian law, transvestism is tolerated.

Nigerians claim that they are against this and that you will be imprisoned for 14 years if you are found trying to have sex. Although there is no law prohibiting cross-dressing, individuals may be detained or asked to appear in court based on their actions or perceptions of their clothing.
Nigeria says no, but we recognize this and choose to sidestep the problem. We haven’t even seen who he is dating, so if he is a woman, he should be dating a man. This is a well-protected man who has never been detained or asked questions about his decisions.
It’s confusing to hear conversations about this “Shim.” Thus, why do we feel offended when “Shim” enters a competition with the women just because “Shim” has changed into a woman and has a different body?
This is my position. We have no right to criticize “Shim” for winning a competition that she entered and for not breaking any laws, provided that “Shim” has not been arrested for anything.
