He claims that the NLC founded the Labour Party to provide a forum for union members to express and protect their rights.

This went against the assertions made by the beleaguered LP Chairman, Julius Abure, that the party was above the Congress.

Wabba declared, “First and foremost, the NLC formed the Labour Party to achieve a specific goal outlined in the NLC Constitution.

The primary goal of the NLC, as stated in Article 3 and Item 1, is to advance the social, political, and economic rights as well as the general well-being of Nigerian employees and retirees.

“The Labour Party is ours; it was founded as the Party for Social Democracy under Pascal Bafyau’s direction. Organs decided to rename the organization as the Labour Party under Adams, and S.O.Z. Ejiofor served as the first chairman before Dan Anyanwu took over.

Therefore, the primary goal of the party’s formation was to guarantee that farmers, laborers, and pensioners would have a forum to exercise their constitutionally guaranteed rights as stated in Section 40 of the document.

“NLC organized the party and registered it. Like when you construct a home, obtain a certificate of occupancy, and then rent an apartment, you naturally have a stake in the way the property is run.

Remember how the NLC stormed the party’s national secretariat on Wednesday in protest of the LP’s planned national convention at the end of the month?
