Senate Suspension: Bauchi Governor declares support for Ningi

Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi State, has supported Senator Abdul Ningi, the congressman from the Bauchi Central Senatorial District, who was suspended for three months after making remarks regarding the purported N3.7 trillion additional funding that was concealed in the 2024 budget.

Ningi resigned from his role as Chairman of the Northern Senators Forum (NSF) after the upper house of the National Assembly suspended him yesterday.

The governor stated that “He supported Ningi in his role as the Senate’s face of opposition while speaking on Wednesday at the State Executive Council meeting held at Government House in Bauchi“.

Recall that yesterday, during the Senate floor session, Senator Olamilekan Adeola (APC, Ogun West), the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, stated that by initiating the motion on breach of privilege by the senator from Bauchi, the Red Chamber had set the stage for the prompt consideration and passage of the 2024 Money Bill.

However, a few senators made a motion to amend the suspension, which the senate approved, to suspend the troubled federal lawmaker for three months.
